Everything you need to know before your first session. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Drop me a message.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy movement and clear access to the area receiving manual therapy or assessment. For lower limb issues, shorts are ideal. For upper back or sports massage work, a vest or loose t-shirt is best. Towels are always used to ensure your comfort and dignity throughout your sport rehabilitation session.
Your first sport rehabilitation session always begins with a full assessment. I’ll take a detailed history of your injury or concern, ask about your goals, and carry out a movement and functional screen to understand what’s going on. From there, we’ll agree on a treatment approach together and I’ll begin hands-on work in the same session. You’ll leave with a clear picture of your situation and a plan.
No referral is needed. As a BASRaT-registered Graduate Sport Rehabilitator, I am an autonomous healthcare practitioner and can assess, diagnose, and treat independently. You can book directly. I’ll refer you on to another healthcare professional if I believe it’s in your best interest.
If you have a specific injury, pain, or movement issue you want to resolve – sport rehabilitation is the right starting point. It combines hands-on treatment with a structured exercise and recovery programme. If you’re generally active, recovering from training, or carrying tension and tightness, sports massage is ideal. Not sure? Just contact me and I’ll point you in the right direction.
Sports massage and rehabilitation techniques can involve some discomfort, particularly in areas of tension or injury. I work within your comfort threshold at all times – communication is key and I’ll regularly check in during treatment. The aim is always therapeutic benefit, not unnecessary pain. Any discomfort during the session should be manageable and short-lived.
Most people feel relaxed and looser immediately after. It’s common to experience some muscle soreness 12–24 hours post-treatment, similar to the feeling after a good workout – this is a normal response as your body adapts. Staying well hydrated, avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and applying gentle heat to treated areas can all help. Any significant soreness should resolve within 48 hours.
I currently offer mobile appointments across Hampshire and Dorset, coming to your home or a location convenient for you. This makes it easy to fit sessions around your schedule without the need to travel. If you have specific requirements around the treatment space, just let me know when booking and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
Payment is taken on the day of your appointment by bank transfer or card. I’ll send you payment details in your appointment confirmation. Please note that cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a charge of 50% of the session fee.
Yes. I am a registered Graduate Sport Rehabilitator with BASRaT (British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers), whose register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority – the UK’s top healthcare oversight body. BASRaT registration includes comprehensive professional liability insurance, so you’re fully covered in my care.
Absolutely. You can book and pay for a sport rehabilitation session as a gift. I also offer gift vouchers for a fixed monetary value or a specific service, which can be redeemed at any point. See the Gift Vouchers section below for more details.
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. I understand that emergencies happen – if something unexpected comes up, please contact me as soon as possible and I’ll always try to be reasonable.
